| The bivalves collected in the Western Antarctic and Subantarctic waters by scientists of the Instituto Oceanográfico - USP during the Scientific Brazilian Expeditions to Antarctical-IX are characterised through its conchiliological features, illustrated and their occurrence plotted in maps. A species of bivalve collected by scuba divers of the IO-USP on the Napier Rock, Admiralty Bay, King George Island during the Expeditions XV and XVI is also considered in this work. | The deep-sea squat lobster, Munidopsis serricornis (Loven, 1852), originally described from the north-eastern Atlantic, has long been considered near cosmopolitan with numerous reports also from the western Pacific and northern Indian Ocean. These Indo-West Pacific records are reviewed along with new material from seamounts throughout the region. Munidopsis serricornis sensu stricto is restricted to the Atlantic Ocean. | During an expedition with RV Victor Hensen (1994) and the RV Polarstern (1996) Isopoda Sphaeromatidae were collected in and off the eastern entrance of the Beagle Channel. The species found, Caecocassidias patagonica Kussakin, 1967, Cassidinopsis emarginata (Guérin-Méneville, 1843) and Moruloidea darwinii (Cunningham, 1871), were previously all poorly or insufficiently described; therefore a redescription is presented herein. Exosphaeroma gigas (Leach, 1818) was also collected frequently, but it was already redescribed earlier and thus only the localities are presented. Moreover, a new species, Cymodopsis beageli, n.sp., which is most closely allied to Cymodopsis sphyracephalata Hurley & Janssen, 1977, is described from the Beagle Channel. |
